We started a unit for Black History Month. We started it by discussing the concept of change. students were asked words that represented change and we wrote them in a thinking map. they then recorded them on sticky notes and started to group them together based on things the words have in common. They then label these groups based on their similarities. We then created generalizations about change based on what we knew.
3rd Grade: Polygons Galore
Students are working towards knowing the formulas and finding the area for all triangles, quadrilaterals, and irregular shapes.
Students used a formula to find the area of a trapezoid using their knowledge from the area of a triangle.
